COLCHESTER LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP(s)
The Colchester Lions would like to invite all Colchester Connecticut residents that are in their senior year of high school to apply for one of several scholarships we award. All students are eligible no matter what public, private, charter or magnet school as well as home schooled students. Please know that we consider applications from students planning to attend any accredited college, university, or trade school. Applications are available at Bacon Academy Guidance Office or on the Colchester Lions Website; colchesterlions.org If you have any questions please contact: Sue Currie firstname.lastname@example.org or Jan LaBella email@example.com. Bacon Academy students should submit their application to the Bacon Academy Guidance office. Other students should mail their application to Colchester Lions Club, Attn: Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 423, Colchester, CT 06415. Applications must be received by Wednesday, March 13, 2019.
There are four scholarships:
(1) Aram Damarjian (Charter Member of Colchester Lions Club). This scholarship is given in memory of Aram Damarjian, Preceptor of Old Bacon Academy from 1947-1962. It will be presented to a graduate who will attend an institution of higher learning. It will be based on scholarship and financial need.
(2) Irv Plotkin Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is given in memory of Irving Plotkin, a longtime Colchester resident, businessman, and Lions Club Member. It will be given to a graduate who will pursue a degree in business at an institution of higher learning. The Scholarship will be awarded based on academic achievement, community service, and financial need.
(3) Memorial Scholarship - These scholarship(s) will be given in memory of all departed Lions who have given 50 years or more service to Colchester. This scholarship is presented to a graduate who will attend an institution of higher learning and be based on service to the community and financial need.
(4) Lions Club Appreciation Scholarship – These scholarships are given in appreciation of the Colchester dedicated Lions who give of their time, money and work to help support the many needs of the adults and children in our community. This scholarship is presented to a graduate who will attend an institution of higher learning and be based on service to the community and financial need.
*One application form will cover all of the Colchester Lions Club Scholarships.
